A car and a van collided head-on in the 10th kilometer section of main road no. 73, in the Veszprém area, on Sunday morning.
According to the press, the driver of the car was a 30-year-old woman. She slipped into the opposite lane under unclear circumstances, at which point the van traveling towards Veszprém slipped into her side.
The professional firefighters of Veszprém rescued several trapped people with the help of tension cutters. The passenger of the car, a man, was so badly injured that he died on the scene.
The driver was revived by the paramedics, and she was taken to hospital by an ambulance helicopter in a life-threatening condition. According to the press, there were siblings traveling in the car.
The man driving the van was seriously injured. The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police with the involvement of experts.
The local paper, Veol, writes that the car slipped in a turn and collided with the van coming from the opposite direction. There has been a complete road closure on the affected road section, traffic has been diverted towards Felsőörs.
